7 p.m.

Bella Concert Hall

On Sunday, November 17, 2019, the Calgary Youth Orchestra, led by Music Director Edmond Agopian, will serve up a sumptuous feast of masterpieces composed by three of the most famous and beloved German composers, spiced up by side dishes of Latin music

The first courses of the evening will be Beethoven’s tempestuous Coriolanus Overture, and the elegant first movement of Schubert’s Second Symphony.

The main dish of the evening will be all four movements of Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 1. It is one of the most monumental pieces in the classical repertoire and legend has it that Brahms laboured over it for over 14 years until he was satisfied.

The evening’s meal will conclude with three spicy pieces by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona, based on his impressions of Southern Spain; Andalucia, Cordoba and Malaguena.

The concert will take place at Mount Royal University’s Bella Concert Hall, starting at 7:30 p.m. For more information, please contact the CYO’s manager at 403-440-5978 or cyo@mtroyal.ca
